My Grandkids and I have a tradition of doing a sunset dance whenever we are together at sunset. It is joyous, heartwarming and can end in complete silliness. Painting fills me with those same feelings.
I've been a wanna-be artist my whole life, but I thought unless you could draw something exactly as it looked, you were not an artist. Well, it only took me 5o some years to figure out that an artist can be creative in many ways. So for the second half of my life, I began a career as an artist!
As a self taught artist, I have learned by trial and error. When I discovered alcohol inks, my whole world opened up. I have been creating with inks for several years now and learning something new every day. I love the vibrant colors and the movement of alcohol inks. There are always surprises that come with working with inks and they always seem to make what I had envisioned even better. I've learned to let the inks lead the way. I like to say my work leans toward abstract realism with a hint of “feel-good.”
As you browse through my paintings, think of them as a bit of a sunset dance through art- filling your heart with joy, warmth and a bit of silliness.
